Increased Teacher Salaries

The mandate "to teach" was given to the Church by Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Through the centuries, the Church has always taken seriously this responsibility to teach all people the Gospel Message. Today, this tradition faces a serious challenge due to the increasing financial demands to maintain our Catholic schools and to offer just compensation and benefits for our teachers so that we may continue to provide our youth with the moral values necessary for mature Christian living

The Catholic Schools of Sioux City is dedicated to increasing the current base salary of $20,000 for a new teacher by $3,000 to $5,000 during the next three years. All current teachers will see a

a salary increase of the same amount. The goals of the campaign include raising $1 million in endowed funds for teachers' salaries and $1.5 million in funds restricted for current and scheduled salary increases.

An estimated $1.3 million of the funds from the diocesan campaign will return to the Catholic Schools of Sioux City. This combined with our campaign goal results in an endowment for teachers salaries of $2.3 million.

Though the service provided by our faculty and staff is truly priceless, by investing a total of $3.8 million into our teachers' salaries now, we will significantly enhance our ability to attract and retain the very best faculty and staff and begin to approach our long-range goals for salaries.
